....carry an AppleVision 1710 for about 800 metres? Yesterday i carried the 8100 followed by a ColourPlus 14" Display for the same distance, and my muscles were screwed. One time last year i carried a Pentium 166 minitower for about 8km from the Shop back up to Schell. Ah well, i guess we'll find out this morning....

Oh, right, the wheels!

It reminds me of the time we got a big IBM photocopier at a garage sale (it was model used by architects that had a 14" x 25" paper tray -- still have a ream of that paper). The thing weighed far too much and came on its own rolling stand. We got the copier in the car, put the stand in the car, drove home, took the stand in the house, tried to lift the copier and were immediately forced to put it on the ground and drag it into the house. We then had to have a neighbor come over and help us get the thing back on its stand.

IF WE HAD ONLY PUT THE COPIER ON THE STAND BY THE CAR, WE COULD HAVE ROLLED IT RIGHT INTO THE HOUSE!

Please, learn from this old coot about the value of wheels.

Actually, i did end up using a wheel.

A construction worker found me struggling to move the 1710, and lent me a wheelbarrow. After that i was back at the dorm in no time. Only problem is that i got a ton of people looking at me, like, "WTF?????" Thats the weiridest i've ever looked iThink. But yeah, i got it now, although i haven't tested it yet, as i have classes soon, and my muscles and back are ****ed.

Having become a true believer in wheels, I have also used rolling office chairs to move monitors around. The only downside is if the chair hits a bump and comes to an abrupt halt and then gravity decides to have its fun with the payload.

Glad you got your goodies!

LOL

I've never had a monitor larger than 17"

Although, I almost got this 20" Apple monitor and an adaptor to use it on the PEESEE I had at the time :DROOLS:

that would have ROCKED!!!!

That, MUCH more RAM, and Windows2000 + Office2000 might have been all it needed to :sniffles: keep me satisfied with that PEESEE... and :gasp: not come to the MLA [:'(]

My pc I got ages back, weighed the preverbial ton, I think I used my bycicle to help me, but we had to take a shortcut accross the fields & th pc was perched a little precariously

Got it back in one piece.

I am typing this using NS 7, I am not overly impressed, well it is one of the new computer things that likes to decide "what you want", & if you want something slightly different then you end up fighting with the program all afternoon & once you get it set up & then your hard drive plays up & then you have to start all over again....

Well I tried IE first as it was already installed & boy does it suck, I am not an IE man.

I will give icab & Opera a try, but my fav so far is NS 4.0.8!

Yeah, Netscape 4.0.8 is my favourite too, on lower spec machines. On my 4400/200 though, IE5 does the best job, and it renders quickest of the lot.

iCab is OK too, but quite slow at rendering I find.

I'm on 4.0.8 now on my 660av. Have it and iCab installed but I've not needed to fire up iCab yet. I might if I wanted to do some online banking etc etc.

hehehe...

I can carry 17"ers without a wheelbarrow... up stairs even....

the iMac is a different story though! the thing is SO much heavier and it's not got very good places to grip at....
