This afternoon after leaving my programming lab session i found a whole bunch of monitors that looked like they were going to be thrown out. I had a bit of a closer look, and saw......

a Power Macintosh 8100/80

Tomorrow i'm going to deploy to university and start a mission to rescue this poor Macintosh, which deserves better. I'll also try and take the 14" Macintosh Colour Display, too, if mission successful. There was also a whole heap of old Ipex monitors. I don't have a gun and a shooting field, so i can't make any use of those, so they can get chucked.

WISH ME LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oooh, I can feel the tension.......

Thanks. From what i can see, it has a CD ROM drive and an AV card. All the covers are on the NuBus slots, but thats about it. I'm gonna try doing some social engineering tomorrow, so we'll see what happens.

Just remember not to put the speaker from your 630 into the 8100

develop a friendly relationship with those who are incharge of the machine, or getter yet, those in charge or getting rid of the machine

MISSION SUCCESSFUL!!!!!!!!!

I got permission to take the goodiefs! I have the 8100, a ColourPlus display, and an Apple Extended Keyboard II so far. I've still got an AppleVision 1710 to go, and the 14" Macintosh Colour Display. Everything i have so far works, too. The 8100 has a 500 meg HD, and an AppleCD 300i+. Not sure how much RAM it has though, as i have no mouse or ADB cable. I'm picking up the 1710 and the Colour Display tomorrow.

COOLNESS!@!!!!!!!!!

You could ask your parents to 'post' you a small portion of your collection

OR, as I was saying to Antipex (tizio) last night, you could stop by your FAVORITE AppleCentre that is right close to your universadise.

WHAT, might I ask you, is universadise worth if you can't have a Mac?

Now you do!

(Remember the AppleCentre)

The idea is that you have a monitor (2 even) and that you want a mouse and some other misc. cables and junk

I picked up the Colour Display today! I was going to test it tonight, but i was busy socialising and working on an arseignment (get it? ) thats due in tommorrow. It would be cool if it worked, but even if it doesn't, the video cable is most likely good, which, if it really is dead, will go into the Colour Display i have at home, which has a broken red pin.

Yeah, i was just telling Cory that none of this stuff is yellowed. Well, the PM is, but not very much. The Colour Display is a bit grubby, but after a bit of cleaning, she'll be lookin' good again.

Yeah... he was telling me that....

It'll all look great if he can find cables and a mouse that matches

Gah, the Colour Display seems to be a deader. Ah well, it was worth it for the video cable, which will be going into my good Colour Display, which has a cable with a borked red pin.

GLAYVEN!

Try to see if you can't combine the 2 cables into one larger "ÜberCable" that would be great if you wanted your monitor on a shelf 7 feet above the 8100

I still need to make an extension cable for those AudioVision thingies.
