LC475 68040 @ 33mhz 36mb 2.1gb Hdd 2x external Sony CD-ROM (caddy)Check out the Norton 3 benchmarks I ran on it. It's faster than a stock Quadra 950! http://jobf.kicks-ass.org/images/benchmark/ Also got a stock Performa 475. And just arrived today, in a box beside my desk is my Centris 660av which is: Centris 660av 68040 33mhz 68mb 2gb 2xCD-ROM Can't wait to get home tonight and play with this baby! It'll be interesting to see the benchmark results and compare them to my LC475 also :) Jobf.

Anybody with a real computer. I have two wind tunnels, uh, Quadra 950's. One has an old VAX hard drive, which makes it sound like a MiG in a wind tunnel. II2II Intelligence officer in training. |

the day I bought my 840av... I almost walked away with a 660av instead, but because of the lack of CDROM drive and somewhat (no offense) slower specs... I ponied up the extra cash for the 840av and BOY was that machine everything I wanted my other macs to be! it wasn't very loud, it was fast and reliable and it had AV junk!Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide "I'm just a normal computer geek who somehow landed a social life"

Well I have my Quadra 840AV.It has 32 RAM, plus a Quantum Trailblazer 700MB HD and a second HD of 250MB. I believe I maxed out the VRAM, all the slots are full. It's quite fast and very quiet. I can leave it on at night and it is fine noise wise. My PC can't always be left on. It's a noisy thing. I would have figured older they are noiser they are. Hmm. Great minds...Great minds...Think Different. |

What do you think of the quad doublers? And what brand/where did you get your KVM switch?

The Quad Doubler does exactly as advertised. You pop out a Centris' 25 MHz CPU and pop the doubler daughter board into the CPU socket. The daughter board has a heat sinked CPU (to which I added a 486 CPU fan). I don't know whether the 68040 is rated at 50 MHz or is a handpicked 40 MHz unit that works at 50 MHz. The heat sink is bonded to the CPU housing. Benchmark tests confirmed the speed increase, which is far less dramatic for on board video. The KVM switch is a 4 port Dr. Bott ADB Moniswitch available at Dr. Bott on line store at http://www.drbott.com/prod/db.lasso?code=1102-MSU4 Expensive at $199 US |

$200 is kinda too expensive at the moment for the KVM.
