This was listed on Low End Mac's Swap List. It seems like something worth buying, but not to ship (90 lbs).

Helping a friend unload his pre-G3 inventory. Up first for sale is an
almost brand new (1 hr of up time) stock Apple Network Server 500 w/
132 mhz processor. Comes w/ 7 PCI slots and 7 HD bays. Runs AIX (IBM's
flavor of UNIX) and not MacOS. Asking $300 OBO plus shipping.
Originally sold for $11,000. Note this baby weighs around 90 lbs. From
Apple Tech Manual:

At product introduction, the following was the standard
configuration for the Network Server 500/132:
132-MHz PowerPC 604 processor card
512 KB Level 2 cache
32 MB parity DRAM minimum
2 GB Fast/Wide hard drive
DAT2 tape drive (removed)
AppleCD 600i CD-ROM drive
Floppy disk drive
AppleTalk administration utilities
325 watt power supply.

He also has a bunch a 4400's, 7xxx's, PB duo 230's, duodocks, and an
Apple IIgs still in the box. Most are barebone mobo and power supply
in a case but he has parts to rebuild some of the units. Fire me an
email for details on anything in particular that you might be
interested in. Accept MO or paypal.

HEY! it's OBO!

we could do kind of a 'joint purchase' for someone to host this machine at their house or place of business or somewhere and all have web space and junk on it...

or we could all buy Z's macs from him and he could buy the ANS

or....

or...

:sniffles:
:cries:

good luck cappn or anyone who wants to buy it.

look up the ANS series, the things are as big as a dorm room refrigator, and as solid as a rock. they are built like the compaq proliant 3000 machine.

anyway, cory, have you considered how much the shipping is gonna kill you? that thing needs to be shipped truck freight, UPS shall not touch it.

I"m glad Australian Post isn't like that. Other than the styrofoam crap that went through the air vents and the yellowing of the case, my Quadra 700 arrived in *MINT* condition.

Yeah! They just to retarded things like leaving parcels on doorsteps! They left a bunch of upgrade on my doorstep when i was living in the suburbs. Several parcels totalling to around 300 USD on numerous occasions.

Now, since moving to the city they have lest various parcels in the totally insecure foyer to the the apartment block. They've decided parcels can go in the junk mail box.
They did this with my DVD decoder, several parcels from my parents, Jaguar OS updates, EXTREMELY important legal documents etc etc....

And to top it off they left my laptop on our doorstep! Leaving a parcel there is one thing but leaving a large box that has things like "Valuable" "Electronic Equipment" "Insured for $XXX" "Fragile Computer"

About the only thing that makes it in to the SEMI secure mailbox - and I say SEMI because I've bent the door back several times when my g/f has the mailbox key - are bills!!!

AusPost is a joke....

Wow. I actually had to go pick up the box containing the Quadra and other goodies. I've never heard of any of that crap you speak of though. Ah well, at least they look after your stuff, unlike some of the US shipping companies.

Anyways... anyone know (bothered to e-mail him) where the ANS 500 seller is located?

Leaving a computer in a box is one thing, leaving a bubble wraped sliding door is another. Auspost was meant to ship it through registered post, but it was left on the grass outside our house. And we live a few door downs from a highschool. And those highsechoolrs had rocks, and there was this 2 glass panned sliding door...put 2 and 2 together.

Nope I didn't... even if it was in NY, I don't have the space for an ANS right now. I found that on the Low End Mac Swap List, so it could be anywhere.
