Has anybody tried this:

http://eshop.macsales.com/OSXCenter/XPostFacto/

It'll allow you to install OSX on 603/604 machines, but you do need a G3+ for 10.2

Probably too slow to be usable, but worth trying for a laugh! :)

I have been thinking of testing that myself.
Only problem is that i don't want to install it om my Genesis and i have no other machine that is up for the job. But when it gets support for the Powerbook 3400, I might try it..

Isn't the 3400 supported? The 2400 is... I would have tried it but my onlt PCI vid card is a VooDoo 5 which isn't supported. I'm on the look out for a PCI R7000 to flash.

I had used xpostfacto on my 8500/g3-400 1mb 200mhz cache,448mb ram, IDE 60gb hd etc. I found the original versions of OSX to be bloated and slow and use 9.1 exclusively on that system now.

10.2 really needs a fast AGP video card so if you want to do anything usefull get an older AGP equipped g4.

I've used it to install Jaguar on my Power Mac 7500 (G3/350 upgrade). Even with the G3 onboard it is noticablely slower than when I tested 10.2 on my B&W (G3/350). It also didn't help that the 7500 has 2MB of VRAM, while my B&W had 16MB.

Test Systems:
7500/G3 - 256MB RAM, 2GB SCSI HD, G3/350 processor (50MHz bus)
B&W G3 - 704MB RAM, 6GB OS X HD, G3/350 processor (100MHz bus)

Either way, if you can get 10.1.5 installed, and run a couple of utilities to take the frills off (shadows, transparency, etc.), you should be able to run X at a semi-useable level.

I ran it once on a non-upgraded 7300.
Do it for a laugh, not for a usable system!

LOL

I remember when OSX.1.5 was running on my 7300/200 with 64 MB of RAM... This is, of course, when it wasn't completely 'mine' per se.

It ran LOADS faster on broadband with a clean install (british of course) of 8.5
