I really like that idea. I personally support it and want to buy a few barebones' boxies for media center thingies and ect ect.

If they can actually keep the price around 300 dollars, I may buy one of these. I wonder if they can still boot 9? They will probably sell well if they are the only new Macs available that can boot 9

I'm certain it won't, Apple never used the term pizzabox on their own, and you can see how distinct the design it from other Apple products. Apple allows things like iTV and iSEE to be made... why not an iBox from another company.

(OH I get it! the ROM)

Yeah that might be a problem. Who knows. Maybe Apple is watching it all from their skyscraper in L.A. (I'm sure they have onel.) and theyre ready to let this guy liscence the ROM. Or possibly, Apple is getting ready to make it themselves.

Apple marketing couldn't find its collective @$$ using both hands if somebody gave them a freakin' ROADMAP!

Would definetly buy that if it would become reality somewhere down the road.
Would be nice to have a G3 or G4 running OS X in the house..

Oh yeah, the design is really cool too!

The creator of the iBox has been developing the idea in public for the past few months over on the DealMac Forum (dealmac.com, click on Forums), under the nom de plume Insider@home. If you do a search for past threads you can find out a lot more about this project. As I understand it, he plans to get excess G4 motherboards from Apple, via the chain that authorized dealers use. What I don't know is whether Apple restricts the use of such mobos to Apple-branded products, but it wouldn't surprise me it they did.

Its an exchange program for repairs. They send you a working mobo and you have to send them a dodgy one.

that's not fun!

I wanted a NEW motherboard design... not some recasing...

if it's a recasing project the wires and stuff'll get all weirded out.
