Folks,

Having recently had ADSL installed, I decided to put my LC475 on the net serving web pages.

The site it hosts is just basically my ramblings about my experiences in getting it online etc etc, but there should be something of interest there to 68kmla members.

It's one of these 'I've done it because I can' things!

The site should work OK in more or less any browser. I'd be interested to hear from people surfing on 68k machines. 68k-wise, I've tested it on Netscape 2 & 4, and also iCab 2.9. If you are using a different 68k browser, I'd appreciate a screenshot as I would be interested to see how it renders.

Win98 + Mozilla 1.2.1 OK.

Change the headline font from Times New Roman to something better :p, such as Verdana or something. Although it's nice as is :)

All in all, excellent job.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Yes exactly! I was speaking to guy at work yesterday about his web server and he said "oh yeah you don't need a powerful machine, I use an old P3-500".

Yeah right! I built my machine for peanuts and it does just as good a job! There's nothing it can't do really. The only thing I miss is the lack of PHP for Mac OS 68k machines, but its not really a big deal as we have MacPerl, and if really desperate for PHP I could install a flavour of Linux.

Thats right yeah! Dana's site is a great resource of info for all things 605/475! Dana has some links to other 68k web servers out there on her page, as well as a link to the C64 one!)

Also, theres a few Mac SE's webserving out there. I visited one yesterday but its not responding today or otherwise I'd post a link.

There is also the guy with his Lisa2, who had it online for a week or so a few months back:

Oh yeah! I remember him! Gotta love all you guys keeping these machines in active duty as webservers, showing the general public what these machines are capable of!

Very nice; very readable, and loads fast (I'm using Netscape 4.78).

One of these days I'm going to have to learn how to do this. What's this Filecore software you're using?

How about a picture of the LC?

Ah thats just the name of the site! To serve the pages I use Quid Pro Quo, which I find is excellent! FTP is provided by Netpresenz, so I can remotely update the site from anywhere in the world.

Of course! Did you look in the 'files' section?

Now that I've just won a 660av on Ebay, I'll be moving the monitor onto it, since I don't really need any monitor on the LC. I like to have it on tho and have it on when I'm at my desk, so I can see whats happening!
