Is their any emulation software that would allow me to run some variant of linux or unix either on a 68k or PPC? One of the nicest features of OSX is the terminal and I thought a linux emulator could add terminal functionality to a vintage mac.mathgeek 68K Macs Liberated: LC, Performa 636, Mac Classic II My Powerbook 1400 page http://www.its.caltech.edu/~dgoulet/1400 |

You might be able to run a full-on linux distro, depending on what mac you have... even cooler, you might be able to set up your OSX machine to ssh into the 68k boxthis is one way to harness the power of alot of different computers easily Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide |

A/UX!It's the classic Mac OS with AT&T SysV UNIX below it. Great OS, and it runs quite fast on most Quadras. Very Much So. If you have a fast MacII it runs good too. One of the most stable 68k OSs out there.Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide |

There is also MacMint a sort of unix command line interface ported from the atari. I've had the gnu gcc compiler (that's also used on linux) running and making mac applications using macmint. It's got most of the usual linux commands.
