I emailed Steve Wozniak yesterday and one of the things i asked him was what his thoughts were on the quality of current Apple hardware...
heres his response:
quote:

For the last 10 years, reliability of Apple hardware has been atrocious. When I
was young, just about anything you could buy had a long life expectancy, like
20+ years if you wanted to keep it that long. We heard of 'planned obsolescence
with cars, but with computers it's more like 'forced obsolescence'. Many times
I had 100% failures within a year for the computers I used in my classes,
meaning that for 30 computers, I'd have 20 repair returns within a year.

when Woz disses Apple hardware, you know its bad...

He's not really much of a techie, this place ain't his style.

The woz is a different story though!

Maybe Paul Allen would be fun to have around here too, those two guys are the real success stories from back in the day. The face time dweebs from both outfits are basically working for S.W. and P.A. while they're doing what they WANT to!

In my book, you can't beat that with a stick!

Too bad Apple hardware isn't as good as the stuff from NeXT, though. Aside from the cheap-@ss power supplies that some of the slabs used, or dead batteries, I've never heard of anything in a NeXT dying.

I am Steve Jobs... I did most of the business parts of starting Apple with Woz on, before and after the date that he said.
