******** CUCCE COMMUNIQUE BEGIN ********
Greetings Comrades,

I have been somewhat of a lurker, a secret member if you will, of the MLA for quite some time. For a few reasons, I've stayed anonymous, posted through some very close contacts, but otherwise, not said anyting on this board.

But now is the time for me to reveal the Grand Plan.

A while back, I started a new faction of the MLA, called CUCCE. See the .sig for what it stands for.

CUCCE is a radical group of true 68K lovers- we know how useful that can be for a variety of computing tasks. We see wasted computers as quite immoral. Especially a wasted Mac, which are really quite useful still. A lot of old PCs are no where near as useful and beyond our scope.

All around us, we see computers being stored, thrown away, beaten in the streets by bored kids. It should be a crime. There are millions- hell, BILLIONs of people on this planet who could benefit from the computing power provided in one of these old Macs. We feel that this victim of SICK WASTe in the wester world is best symbolized by the Macintosh computers using Motorolla processors in the 680x0 series. We also recover '030- and '040-based NeXT machines as well, but thankfully, many of those still are being used as computers.

Unlike most MLA members, we are not afraid to act. We have recovered, liberated, SAVED FROM A NON-LIFE OF IDLE BONDAGE a goodly amount of 68K-based Macs from a variety of sources. As seen in the .sig. Probably more than the entire membership of this board has liberated, combined. I mean no offense by this, I am not challenging anyone to a pissing contest.

We are using some innovative and legally questionable means of obtaining our LMUs. However, our activities are 100% moral- we are not taking from anyone who is actually using their 68K Mac. More details about LMU recon and recovery can be available if folks are interested.

Rather, I mean it as CALL TO ACTION! We are living proof of what a small, well organized, and dedicated team of Marxist idealists can do when they put their mind to a problem.

We are even using our Liberated Mac Units (LMUs) toward the betterment of Humankind. Due to some serious security issues, I cannot share this kind of sensitive information here, but the LMUs are not just collecting dust in our Members' basements. We are really quite proud of what our Director of Research for CUCCE is coming up with.

So why this coming out? We feel it is time to expand our horizons- open our wings and fly! We are interested in recruiting new members, establishing new CUCCE Conclaves and new divisions at CUCCE HQ toward developing our tactics as well as our R&D side.

Sincerely,

Comrade Crunch

You might be interested to know that there are many like us scrounging & re-vitalising old macs for the less priviledged people of this world.
And there are many like me who go about's doing this work in a quiet... softly... softly ...manner. I mostly mostly unemployed, but that doesn't stop me doing such voluntary work.
Sure sometimes it costs me a few of my own dollars, but so what compared to the pleasure I see etched on the faces of those who get these liberated macs. For many it is their first real venture into anything remotely like a computer. So I like to think that their first experience should be a good one.
That's why I choose to liberate 68K Macs. They are truly the unspoken heroes in this field of endeavour.
I wish you the best in your efforts, but never forget Lao-Tzu's reminder about leadership.

that's great and all... but if there's more than one of you... shouldn't you each have a different user name?

and is that number 142 a collective number of your whole "group" as having beenmentioned... or is this your own personal collection...

you mean you just take the 68ks? do you have no parents? spouses? significant other?

and exactly... BTW what do these 68ks do?

Alot of us do like to use our 68ks... they are a great little computer for keeping a calandar on, or writing little notes... or playing with archaic softwares and stuff that more or less won't run on MacOSX

the MLA are NOT afraid to act, but rather, our "approval factors" stop us, and sometimes, simply it's money issues that stop us. In addition, what happens alot of the time... is that simply we are doing other things or there is not any macs that need liberating...

now you may note that I, (if you truly read alot of the stuff here) have let several macs go from my grasp... In fact... I can think of a LCII and a IIci that I could have liberated... a performa 578 and an SE fdhd that followed exactly similar fates... I simply did not have the ability to rescue these machines... it would have been A) theft B) offending Parental Approval Factor

My best Mac-friend has initiated a project called Mac-to-Africa.
So far about 1500 donated Macs has been shipped to Kenya, mainly in the Eldoret area from the University Hospital to primary schools. I believe this shows what can be done by a person who is goodhearthed and dedicated and know the right things to do.
You'll find information (in swedish I'm afraid) [w1.141.telia.com/~u14115125/historik.html]
(I'm not sure if the link will work.)

Canada has the parliamentary system of gov't, where the executive and legislative branches are intertwined. You are thinking of the socialized medicine, where the gov't pays for medical care.

anyway, sign me up for the CUCCE!!!

I want to say that I speak for everyone when I say "we all know that he was BSing" but I seem to remember someone that believed him... and we had a nice little talk about how nice that would be if something like that happened and it kinda fell out of the standard loop of discussion.

there's alot of things in life we can't believe

for me... one of them is that I'm replying again

reading the old threads is a great way to learn the history of the MLA, and have a few good laughs... but sometimes replying to the old threads is dangerous...

(not that it'll change history or anything)
((but what if it does!))

Interesting how after at least a week of replies to this thread the original author hasn't posted anything.

I really see alot of new users who post like one or two messages in an effort to get what they need/want then you never hear from them again.

Sad really.

You lurk, but post through "close contacts"? Sounds like an extremely mediated way to access a web forum!
I suspect that the original post was from a biological organism whose expressions reflect quite humorous semantics. I wish you good fortune with the collective Macintosh endeavor. Marx wrote some wonderful ideas to paper, but personally I have been hoping that you would manifest your own- consider it if you will an exercise in self-actualization, the process ov externalizing your intentions with regards to your environment.
Do your cells divide and your neurons bifurcate according to the charter or document ov your committee? Are the situations you posit symmetrical with the neuro-genetic buffers ov your senses, or do you run your personality as a sort ov "state-machine"? Can you achieve self-actualization from your original substrate, or do you create another? Is your consciousness democratic, absolutist, affinity based, spontaneous, chaotic- or does the seat ov power jump from aggregate to aggregate like a spread-spectrum network card? Can you run multiple copies ov your personality? With stability? What sort ov paradoxes, if any, do you feel result from acting upon an ideal ov sovereignity?
Off to pack up my life-sized maps!

whoa.

Let's not give the MLA a bad name.

...and by that, I mean don't fsck around with the MLA name.

we don't need anyone making the "army" thing out to be more than it is.. especially in these days of stupid paranioa.. so if you're going to do this, get your own forums. Thanks for the info, interesting idea, but not at this time, and not on these forums.
