Whilst using my Quadra 650 I started the game "Beebop", This game quite annoyingly changed my sound output setting so that it was on max! Much to my horror as my wife could then hear the noise & then she isn't happy & then I'm not happy.

I have already wanted to attach speakers to the 650, but am keen to avoid using the speaker out port at the back as this would add to the multiple wires which are already strewn accross my floor.

So I want to hack a pair of speakers into the 650's case, with the idea of having a volume switch;-)

I am hoping to remove the Apple Mac Quadra 650 badge & use the hole to mount the volume switch.

So now to find a pair of speakers I can dissmantle.

Sure there's enough room inside the case for an extra set of speakers and a little amp?

I couldn't see any cheap speakers that suited the task,I think I'll have to get myself a Maplins catalogue.

well all I know of that which is small enough to fit in a Quadra, is probably lesser quality than the internal speaker... (stereo on the internal one?) and they don't have a volume switch....

Now I am certainly no electronics expert.

Corys reply has got me thinking, really I don't [u]need /u] to replace the speaker, but rather to add in a volume control.

Stick a little radio in there as well perhaps!!!!!

You might be able to get some advances speakers in there like what you have on the new imacs if you want good sound and for them to be small.
And no i`m not suggesting destroying those nice speakers .
Why not just have external ones?

I could put flashing lights on the front as well, I am getting more & more carried away with this idea, I remember having a row of led's on the front of music systems.

There are two reset buttons on the front of the 650, I'm not definite why, & really couldn't really care less why I wonder do I need to know?, but either way I would like to know if I should/shouldn't use either or both of these buttons.

The circle type one is an interrupt button, which brings up a little debugger (useful for programmers, nearly useless to users), and the triangle kinda one is a real reset button, like the ones you see on PCs.
