Heh.We just got this nice 1710AV to sit on our beige Power Mac G3 minitower. Now, the screen works fine in 9 (it does have a slight convergence problem across the span of the tube, though. ) with all the automatic buttons working and software setting of the monitor parameters working fine. Now the screen works fine in OS X, but will only do 640x480. You can force it to do other resolutions, though: if you restart with a DB-15->VGA adaptor to force it to a certain res, and then plug in the 1710 it'll display that res fine, and when you set the same adaptor to the MultiSync DIP combination and run then run the screen through a VGA->DB-15 adaptor you can software-switch resolution. Maclover5 already suggested trying the monitor without the ADB cable plugged in to the minitower, but it still locked into 640x480. Any ideas? ~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit Mayor of NuBus City v3.0

before it died, I didn't have any trouble with my 1710 on my beige running os X. It could do any supported resolution with or without the ADB cable plugged in. What version of OS X are you running? I was using 10.1, which has support for the beige g3 on board video. I suspect I'm miss reading it somehow but are you saying it works fine with the DB-15 -> VGA adapator set to multisync and that you can run whatever resolution you want? Isn't that the way it's meant to be? Assuming I am missreading it and it's not OK, have you tried a different dB-15 -> VGA adaptor? I have 2 here one has no dipswitches and is actually an Apple made one, supplied with the 1705 and a few other monitors when bought seperately. I've used it with a whole range of monitors and OS, presently used to connect a Multiple Scan 20 to a GeForce 2 in OS 10.2.4 The other one has a switch to change resolutio but I've never used it. -------- LC 2, LC 3, Q605, Perf 638, Colour Classic (160 603e) 6100, 7200, PTP 225 (Quad 604), PM 9600, G4 Cube |

Nah, it's got a DB-15 plug on the end, so when I plug it straight into the machine it should be able to do proper res switching, but it won't. It's not terrible that I have to use a DB-15->VGA->DB-15 setup, but it's ugly, unstable, takes a lot of horizontal room, and only soft switches between the old MultiSync resolutions (nothing past 1152.) ~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit Mayor of NuBus City v3.0

Remember, OSX only uses the generic video driver for ANYTING below the 1st rev. slotloading iMac, or a BW G3.that may be your problem, and the driver is not reading the sense pin circutry, and is reverting to compatability mode. try fiddling with the colours, and see if that helps.
