if you do, I may be interested.

looking for something used, maybe you are selling your iMac, and you want to take out the CDRW and reinstall the original CDROM (hint hint)

oh... if you have any iMac perch cards or proccie upgrades, i am interested in those too :)

Did they make a tray loading burner for the iMac? You could probably make your own with an IDE CD-RW, maybe even a combo drive.... Dunno, just a thought.

EDIT: combo drive meaning DVD CD-RW combo.

MCE did make one for the iMac, and I'd like to use that one, unless someone wants to sell me a dead trayloader CDROM, and then I can transplant the faceplate. It would have to be laptop style, I dont want to hack this in too badly.

anyway, thanks for the idea....

anyone have any PERCH cards, or proccie upgrades?

I am looking more for the sonnet kind, because they include a firewire port :)

that is a MEZANNINE slot, you can get firewire, video card and lots of other upgrades for the thing...

sadly, I haven't one of these drives, but you might look into a USB unit if you need cheap, rather than fast

Mezzanine and PERCH are synonymous.

AFAIK, the only card made for the PERCH slot on an iMac was the video card.

thanks though...

There was a gamewizard voodoo 2, available for around 30 USD on eBay. There was also a Formac SCSI+TV tuner card.

My suggestion would be to buy a USB/Firewire case and cheap IDE CD RW. That way you can use it on more than one machines, do disc to disc copying on the iMac, you could also connect up other IDE HD's in emergencies. The only downside is that you will be limited to 4x Max burns on the iMacs USB and it won't be bootable.

The MCE drive probably isn't worth it unless you can find one cheap, it would be able o burn at a higher rate, I think the MCE ones were 8x burners.
