Well well well, I needed a cable to go from my cd drive to the sound on the motherboard. The connection to the motherboard was diagonally opposite where the cd drom drive sits, & I thought that I didn't have a cable long enough, but after a scavenge for cd rails(to go on the side of a cd drive), which I cannot find even though I know I have them somewhere.... I found the cable that was used for my old Compaq pc, which is the perfect length!!!!My old Compaq pc has so far yielded it's; Compaq 140 15" monitor(Q840av) Sound cable for internal cd drive(Q650) scsi cabling((internal)is now in my Q650) & no gothikon I don't have a pc at least not one thats working;-) shaktiman Quadra 840av, prettymuchmaxedout8xcd drive,3 monitors 15" & 14" & 14" os 8.1 , 12 meg ram, 500 meg hard drive Performa400(asleepintheattick) |

Sounds like that old compaq is slowly losing its mind -- it cannot see, it cannot speak, and it has lost its long term memory.I wonder if the HD and CD-ROM from that machine are usable in some Mac? I'd bet that the PSU could be rigged to provide power for some hackintosh project. You could also hollow-out the case to make a giant peripherals box with an internally mounted ethernet hub, modem, and various misc SCSI objects all run from the PSU. A toast to the peecee free!!!
