...you spend half an hour with your Dell hooked up to the Mic in on your microcassete recorder recording MP3s onto a 30 minute microcassete tape that sounds like AM radio so that you can listen to them on the way to university. Ah well, just wait till i get the money to get some 1.5V rechargable batteries! Ahhh I tell you there's nothing better than flying down a long straight path at a million miles an hour listening to LeAnn Rimes and AC/DC. -------------------------- Give your dreams a chance.™ - Apple in the mid '90s Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 7

No, but the 1.2 V batteries will work. Get them from an electronics store, a NiMH cell rated at 1800-2000 mAh will set you back about 4 bucks.~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit Mayor of NuBus City v3.0

The Alkalines, yes. But it's a Form Factor, not a voltage spec.NIMH cells are 1.2v in most of the common packages, NiCads too, IIRC. jt . Trash Hauler: call sign: eight-ball C.O. AC-130H SpecOps 68kMLAAF Edited by - Trash80toG-4 on 10 Mar 2003 06:45:07 |

No they don't. For some reason its really fussy about the difference between 8x 1.2v and 8x 1.5v. -------------------------- Give your dreams a chance.™ - Apple in the mid '90s Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 7

EIGHT BATTERIES FOR A CASSETTE PLAYER?!I cannot imagine how tired you get from that. IIRC, doesn't the 1.2V have something to do with the battery's ability that it is rechargeable? Try stuffing some 1/2 AA ringers in the rotten lil' B@$#@%D then! AA 1/2AA #Cells 8 + 0 = 8 x 1.5v = 12v 8 + 0 = 8 x 1.2v = 9.6v 7 + 2 = 9 x 1.2v = 10.8v 6 + 4 = 10 x 1.2v = 12v 5 + 6 = 11 x 1.2v = 13.2v 4 + 8 = 12 x 1.2v = 14.4v jt ™. ahem... OLD NiCads were 1.5V, NEW ones are 1.2, and they are STIL more expensive than NiMH, and they still have about HALF the capacity of NiMH! blmuh. BTW, NiMH batteries can get to about 1.7V if you get them hot enough, but anywhere past that they explode. the only reason they show them at 1.2V, is because they stay at that voltage for longest. now, who want's chochlate frosty milkshakes??!

Vanilla sounds better! Now that I've actually considered the situation, I really think I'd get two full sets of 1/3AA's and rewire the battery holder with an A/B switch and either get a real NiMH charger for loose cells or do it up the Goldberg way: rig it out with a jack and circuitry from a Duo battery charger. Using the guts from a couple of dead Duo batteries, I could run it off of, or charge up, either bank (or both sequentially) without ever changing them again. If you're gonna go with neoleolithic FlintPod technology . . . do it the way tehRube(tm) woulda! jt ™. Trash Hauler: call sign: eight-ball C.O.
