I recieved an email from my brother in law. I certainly don't think he would send an email like it & I find it very hard to believe that he would send it to me if he was sending it. I would tell his father!

The email has the subject ha ha & instructs the recipient(after listing alot of peoples email addresses) that if they dont send the email on(thereby making it an email chain letter) that they will lose someone they love deeply! but if they send the message on that they will have good luck. It also has a couple of very silly childish verses.

My brother in law uses a pc probably I think he has Windows 98 on it.

Am I likely to be infected?(a few of you may recieve the email if this is the case) & has anybody got advice for anti virus software that my brother in law should use?

If this is a virus, which it probably isn't depending on whether or not his email service is all web based, it probably won't effect you if you were on a Mac...

It just sounds like a stupid chain email to me, trash and forget.

I'm 99% certain that of the few mac virii there are none can infect a machine by simply reading an email. leave that position to and Windows PC with outlook!

Sounds like a mental virus to me. If your brain's OS has "Superstition" or "Religion" turned on at start-up, then you might get personally infected. Its usually the more spiritual people that fall for the concocted promises and threats of karmic retribution that then resend such e-mails.

I especially like the chain letters that explicitly state that "they work even if you aren't superstitious." LOL!

But seriously, I would not worry too much about Mac virii, especially about getting them via e-mail unless you use Outlook and Office. I think some of the Word macro viruses are cross-platform compatible. But you might want to ask your brother about the e-mail. If he claims that he didn't send the e-mail, then he may have a virus that he is spending to his less-enlightened peecee-enslaved friends.
