I'm in Journalism and I kinda like QuarkXpress...... (we have version 4 on PCs though) Official 68k videographerOfficial MLA TourGuide

You could probably pick up something like Quark 3 second hand, it's a small download if you decided to take the other route, although I have ammased an amzing number of copies from second hand computers. --------LC 2, LC 3, Q605, Perf 638, Colour Classic (160 603e) 6100, 7200, PTP 225 (Quad 604), PM 9600, G4 Cube

if only I hadn't killed the Quadra... it was a nicely rigged machine, could have done with a larger monitor, but other than that sufficient for running the programs anything more... Shortlegs server on hotline has pretty much all the 68k software you would need.

" - Because the OSX version can do that much more" I'm thinking of using the 7300 to do some DTP work, especially on the MLAgazine and for SaveThePentiums. Official 68k videographerOfficial MLA TourGuide

 | Posted - 13 Apr 2003 :  13:59:34 Pagemaker 5 was buggy. PM 6 was better. I used to run it on my IIfx with only 8MB RAM + RAMDoubler and System 7.1, and still use version 6.01 on my blue G3 under OS 9.1. Very intuitive, easy to use--though a manual, or a book can help when you get into the fine points.
Actually, earlier versions (through 4, I think) ran fine under System 6--used them on my SEs, with Stepping Out. Perfectly serviceable, too. Pagemaker (I started with v. 2) was developed for the Mac in the '80s--PCs couldn't do anything but 80-character typing. Desktop publishing was a Mac revolution. As mentioned, Quark runs fine on 68K Macs--at least through version 3--I never learned it, myself. Designers used it all the time on IIcis. Early versions of Photoshop can be useful, too, and will run on 68K Macs--e.g. v. 2. /Mr Lynn The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn’t have a space program.--Larry Niven

cool I'm thinking I'll be running Quark4 and Photoshop 4 on the 7300.... I might try to get some stuff for the IIsi under A/UX or system 7.6 though. Official 68k videographerOfficial MLA TourGuide
