i REALLY need to find a free avi/DivX splitter so i can make VCDs... are there any? ive googled 'till i could google no more and havent found a free one yet. EDIT - I found one, feel free to delete this thread or do whatever with it -----------

can't iMovie export to VCD format (mp2, if i'm not mistaken)or is that not what you're talking about... --------------------

I think that what he means, is that some AVI files are encoded with DiVX, he wants to get from that file, JUST an AVI, or something....Official 68k videographer

He means he has a large divx encoded avi file that is too large to fit on a single VCD. He wants a program that can split it into smaller chunks.I don't know where to get such a program, but I do know they exist.

If you have QuickTime Pro, I'm sure you could import the .avi and export it as a DV Stream. Then just import that into iMovie, slice it up and export each section individually...or perhaps there's a more straighforward way... --------------------

HOWEVER... KaZaA Lite (http://www.kazaalite.com) is a client of the KaZaA networks that is made by some other guys and has no spyware. it's my p2p client of choice, but on mac i use Limewire (although i hate it) -------------

Kazaalite is great. The k++ version is really cool, though. It has a custom loader for the standard kazaa that allows it to heavily modify the internal workings of the program, and it adds all kinds of cool features.
