I think that what he means, is that some AVI files are encoded with DiVX, he wants to get from that file, JUST an AVI, or something....

If you told us what it was called and where to get it it wouldn't be a totally pointless thread and might be useful in the future!

He means he has a large divx encoded avi file that is too large to fit on a single VCD. He wants a program that can split it into smaller chunks.

I don't know where to get such a program, but I do know they exist.

If you have QuickTime Pro, I'm sure you could import the .avi and export it as a DV Stream. Then just import that into iMovie, slice it up and export each section individually...

or perhaps there's a more straighforward way...

Kazaa is nothing but a buggy-ass spyware riddled piece of @#$% on the PC, and I'd HATE to see it on the Mac.

HOWEVER... KaZaA Lite (http://www.kazaalite.com) is a client of the KaZaA networks that is made by some other guys and has no spyware.

it's my p2p client of choice, but on mac i use Limewire (although i hate it)

Kazaalite is great. The k++ version is really cool, though. It has a custom loader for the standard kazaa that allows it to heavily modify the internal workings of the program, and it adds all kinds of cool features.
