I'm so mad that BMUG shut down about 5 years ago. The BMUG newsletter was about as thick as the A volume of the encyclopedia and published quarterly. Argh. Say, that was back when 68k wasn't vintage...I wonder if my brother kept any of those things? They could prove to be useful for liberation.

Gamers: skip to bottom section & link
Readers: hit first link for coherent .txt based content
Sentimental a/o twisted sense of humor.......just keep reading........

Schmaltzy stuff:

I really miss the old NYMUG, the Parent/child Mac Kid's Club SIG meetings most of all. Luckily, runners took root (image: spider plant) and some of the best parts, like the warmth of the "NYMUG lounge", thrive in places like the waiting room at Tekserve.

See press clippings for more objective accounts (+coherent2):

http://www.tekserve.com/press.html

Then click "get info" and download .pdf of 68k field service manual.
The PPC folks lurking out there will find manuals for their boxes too.

Three non.txt based options for gamer types:
Name that 68k Macintosh
Name that 68k Macintosh

Name that soundtrack tune (revenge for my humiliating experience in concurrent thread, anybody who recgnizes tune, witholdhold info, this is a timed test for someone else and a retorical question with multimedia and links, click get info and collect prize)

Hey, Trash80, you're in NY? Where do you go to liberate macs? Ever gotten anything from Tekserve? I once spied a compact mac in the back, but when I asked an employee about it, he told me that it "could be in for repairs" and wouldn't let me take it.

yes, people give them to me or I grab 'em before DSNY arrives at the scene of the crime, I've bought so much stuff at Tekserve over the years that they humor me a little. They shake their heads that I've always been intrigued by this kind of stuf, and think that I have funny ideas (odd, funny, not the other kind)

like the games?

Never heard of or saw them. What does DSNY stand for? Disposal Services for New York?

It's best to just let the poor macs go at that point. They never run happily after being subjected to such horrors. That and the girlfriend monster always tries to "throw that disgusting piece of trash" out....Think of it as Mercy Killing once they reached that point
