I recieved an ethernet tranciever, AAUI - RJ45, I plan to buy another & connect my 840av to my 650. The ethernet came boxed & with manuals & a floppy disk with drivers. Will I need to use the drivers off the floppy disk or can I just connect the 2 computers & click Appletalk connect by ethernet?shaktiman Quadra 840av, prettymuchmaxedout8xcd drive,3 monitors 15" & 14" & 14" os 8.1 , 12 meg ram, 500 meg hard drive Performa400(asleepintheattick) |

As long as you have all the appropriate Apple ethernet Extensions installed, then Appletalk will work fine. Don't forget you will need a crossover cable to connect the two Macs together if you are not using a hub.cheers Flash! 68k ParaMedic |

lolm nerd(word) up I find the Apple word quite laughable with it's trancievers, terminators, formac proformance. Are these words just made up? They are quite indicitive of the mid nineties techie culture, Apple is great for add ons & nerdy upgrades. PS: I have another transciever in transit:-) shaktiman Quadra 840av, prettymuchmaxedout8xcd drive,3 monitors 15" & 14" & 14" os 8.1 , 12 meg ram, 500 meg hard drive Performa400(asleepintheattick) |

trancevier was invented by a lazy person as a way of saying transmitter/receiver ;Pcory, you be a true geek. trancevers are ok, but I'd rather not have them if you dont mind, especially on a portable machine. I dont want to have to connect/disconnect a million cables just to use some bloody port. The word is really quite old. I have a pair of CB radios from '67, and they are called "Citizen Band Transceivers." My Kenwood TS-820S rig is also called an "HF Transceiver." I don't think Apple made that one up. Same here. Tranceivers really aren't all that great. -------------------------- Give your dreams a chance.™ - Apple in the mid '90s Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 7

hmm... mostly I just needed the extra foot or 2 the transciever gave... I would on any other occasion use the transicver with a Quadra that I don't have... so the 7300 got it...Official 68k videographer Official MLA TourGuide |
