I now want(yes I change my mind frequently) a games machine.

I want it to be a machine that uses cartridges.

But what is good?

I would take for a games machine a c64 because it can use carts & they are cheap & the games are reliable & it has a good range.

but it is too large & I would be too tempted to add extras and I want joypads as opposed to joysticks.

The 2 contenders at the moment are a Nintendo(super?)
and Sega Megadrive,
as both of these have Turrican available,

I am keen to know relative prices & should I be looking at anything else?

I was hoping to pay about £2 - £3 a time for carts.

Shak,

Get yourself up on a Sunday morning and get down to a few car boots. You'll see Megadrives & Snes's with bundles of games for pocket change.

I'm a bit of a gaming freak. I collect Atari VCS carts (approx 375 different ones) and visit car boot sales a lot.

Just the other week, N64 3games 2pads. 15quid. Master System with 18 (yes, eighteen) boxed games. £5.

Car boot sales are good for Macs too. Picked up 2x Mac 512k's, an SE plus a few other bits and pieces like old software and cards and stuff. I see early Powermacs all the time.

I've got a SNES with about 8 games & 2 pads going spare. Interested?
Thought about the 4400 yet?

If you want something really different Try to snag a Virtual Boy. That is one of the weirdest systems you will ever play. I've got one, and its pretty cool.

Hehe yeah it is cool, I used to have one but you can only play them for about 10 minutes before your head starts to explode!

Only released in the US & Japan.
Some of the games like Virtual Lab (Japan only release) go for upwards of $300!

I have an original NES with 2 pads, the SUPERPAD thing, and a light gun, and LOADS of games, almost all is in original nearly mint condition packaging... it's fun fun fun to take it out every once in a while

Heh as long as I take a minute or 2 break every half hour or so, I can play for hours. $300 for Virtual Lab... Wouldn't surprise me, since I've never seen it on ebay.
