I need a 68k Books that automatically defaults to video mirroring on the video output port... this means that I also need a 'book with a video output port...one with built in ethernet would be great also... that way my hack (if I use a 68k) can be a NetworkConsole Official 68k videographer |

I remember a discussion earlier here about someone's PB180 who made a console thing oot of it... big problems were had with mirroring and spanning issues, as the screen was prebrokenthe 540 is mirroring only so that'll work just fine for me iThink.... My 160 has a video out port, but no video due to a dead inter-connect annd inverter board. Maybe it would work.

The 160 would work OK, but has no ethernet port.I'm sure I've seen SCSI ethernet adaptors before, even if you had to use a 50pin one and connect using the PB SCSI adaptor. Or are you stuck with serial connections? ==== Steve/Jobf ===== Lisa 2, LC475, PB145b, PB160, PB540c, IIsi. |

I actually OWN a scsi ethernet adaprot... but it's NOT an elegant solution in my eyes.... I personally would prefer to paint a transciever to match the 'book, not to have a huge box attached... part of this goes with the way I see the unit being, right in front of the screen just like many people have normal keyboards...Official 68k videographer |

Nope. Mirroring-only is just on the first batch of Wallstreet PowerBooks and the iBooks. All others support spanning right out of the box. ,xtG .tsooJ -- RTFM |

Technically this is possible with the 100/140/170 PowerBooks as well if you happen to have something called the Radius PowerView (which hooks up to the SCSI port and drives an external VGA or Mac monitor). I've got one, their really neat. Hard to find though...7 68k Macs 4 Contraband Power Macs + 0 Windows PCs ------------------------- 1 happy guy |
