I just found out I can record cd music straight to disk!

But what format have I saved the song in?

I used Quicktime, the latest version for 68kmacs.

I would also like advice on the following problem, I have a cd which has a movie(.mov) on it. When I play this using Quicktime I get a picture but no sound.

It is probably aiff format...someone else chime in if they know more.

As per no sound, it may be recoreded on another track. Is it a true VCD, or just a .mov on a disk (VCDs are mpeg I know...but who knows....)

It is a music cd (Texas "in demand"), it dosn't really give any indication as to what format the movie is, though as I say it is .mov.

I have just tried my "The Divine Comedy" cd which also has .mov files on it & they work (though slow & jerky) with sound.

The movie on the Texas cd plays fine(not jerky) just no soundtrack!

Watch out, it's an AIFF file and they eat hard disk space like nobodys business

I remember a few years back a friend did this on his 6400, I can't remember what the exact deal was but he ended up with files that were in the 100k region, amazing compression you might think, but they actually linked (as a quicktime reference movie??) to large 100 MB or so files elsewhere on the hard disk. Some kind of temporary folder hidden away.

Do a search for files over 50 MB and see if you turn up any large files, or at least see how big these actual .mov files are.

when I did it on the 7300 long ago (in QT3 methinks...) the quality was GREAT, and they took up about 40 MB each (for a 4 minute song)...

in newer versions of QT they take less space though
