Hi everybody!

I just had a question about Sonnet's "Quaddoubler" upgrade...what would keep someone from putting one of thos souped up '040s into a Duo 280c? Probably any number of things, but I'm counting on you guys to point out the obvious reasons.

it might not physically fit inside. power consumption issues. perhaps it's just not supported by sonnet and there wouldn't work even if it did fit...

There just isn't enough space in any of the 68K basec Powerbooks for that type of upgrade. Your only upgrade options in the Duo's are to get a faster logicboard/processor and swap it out.

What you can do, though, is rip out the 68LC040 and solder a full-blown 68040 in its place. You can even put in another oscillator to make it run at 40/80 MHz…
