Ok, first off, there are people that will find this website funny, though it is sick, if anyone finds this funny, I dont want to hear about it in this thread. www.bonsaikitten.com apparantly this website was started by an MIT student, who was arrested and no charges could be made against him, because the photos on the site were computer generated. This may be so, but this website could inspire some sick bastard to perform this act of sheer torture on their animal. I am asking for help in crusading and petitioning congress or someone to take this site offline, and find anyone that has done this to their cat, get them arrested for animal cruelty, and make sure the asshole that made the site gets criminally charged as an accessory. I am currently writing a statement for petitiononline.com and will have an online petition going here. right now I am asking for full mobilization of troops to get rid of this site and its mirrors online. JT, this is in your neck of the woods, the area code for the bogus phone number is in a new york area code. the domain name bonsaikitten.com is registered through tucows.com, and the information from the whois is as follows:

there is a circulating email petition with 456 signatures, but the petitiononline site should be the way to go. thanks for all your support Clinton Crawford Lieutennant Commander (Pronounced Leftennant) 68k Macs Rescued: 2 Pluses, a 512KE, a Classic II, a Q650, a Q660AV, and a MacII Contraband rescued: Power Computing PowerBase 200, a PM 8600/300, and a PM8500/180 Apple //s rescued: Apple //e

There's thousands of disgusting things on the web. Good luck trying to get any of it removed. Not only is there the right to free expression (in most countries), but if he was forced to remove it for legal reasons, then it could be posted again on a server located in a country that doesn't mind that sort of thing. So if he really wanted to he could still have the site up... somewhere.Don't take this personally Clinton, because there is nothing wrong with taking offense and feeling strongly about this sort of thing. I am not knocking that at all. However I find this sort of reaction very...what's the word I'm looking for? Well it's a silly reaction. It's like petitioning the makers of the Simpsons because Itchy and Scratchy are too violent, and kids might stick dynamite down each others throats. OK, so this particular site is not a cartoon, but you get the point? Supporting actual animal societies (RSPCA for example), stopping weapons from being brought to school, reduction of greenhouse gasses, save the whales, save the forests.... these are all good things to get into and support. Futile attempts to remove offensive web sites is...well...futile. However if you really want to get onto that soapbox, then there are a million and one child pornography sites you could start petitions for removal. that's my 2 cents Flash! PS. I don't think kittens should live in jars either. 68k ParaMedic |

I think maybe I'm missing something here.... I don't understand what is so disturbing about it... But you know, my world that I live in is a very very decensitized one, so maybe that has a role to play. I didn't read any text I just saw images of a cat in different jars... on was a jar the other was the G4 Cube.... Now maybe I would've found what he had to say disturbing, but I don't know, I don't really feel like going back and looking at it... My other feeling toward it is that I know if I were to do something like that, I'd think it was hillarious. (don't kill me please!) Not the actual stuffing, but doing something up in Photoshop or what have you... There's been images of people squished up against stuff and it looks funny, to put my friend in a jar like that all squished and whatnot I think would look hillarious. Now like I said... or I think I did, I don't know where he's coming from so maybe he's messed up, I don't know, I didn't read anything, but you know, part of me wants to be like ya lets go after this guy just cuz I'm here with you guys, but another part of me is like, what's the big deal, from what I saw (which was very very little), it looked like he was just making a joke out of it. Basically it seemed like something that would make it on NewGrounds or something. Like I said, I don't know and like I'm going to say now, I'm incoherent right now.... it's 12:40 here in Indiana and I don't hardly sleep, so I'm exhausted... (have been since 5pm) and so I'm gonna stop babbling now....sorry if I somehow offend someone with what I said above /\ ________________ foetoid, that's (fee-toy-duh) http://www.foetoid.doesntexist.com |

OK, my new approach is to call up the New York Department of Animal Control, the ASPCA Animal Cops (the SPCA people that carry guns) and get this guy's real name and address, considering they are public records seeing as he has been arrested. After which, I am going to turn it over to PETA, and see if they start picketing his front yard/apartment lobby/dorm and throwing vile objects at him whenever he passes.Flash, it is not so much my taking offence, I am worried that someone may actually TRY putting a cat in a glass jar, with a tupe superglued up it's anus, and one down it's throat, and leave it there for months on end. It just makes me shudder to think of a cat going through that. It is just my humainiacness toward cats acting here. I think it's the step by step instructions for 'growing' a cat in a jar that Clinton is worried about. On the other hand...try typing "how to make a bomb" into a Google search. quote:

That's good, because I am only playing devils advocate here - not arguing, just debating. You know I think this is a very good point, if perhaps only half the story? Well we are free to say what we like, so I could say(hypothetically & this is not my view) that French people are all racist. I plucked that from nowhere & it has nothing to do with anything. The point is this, I am free to say it & you are free to ostricise me from your community for saying it. We all use the internet & we all can gain access to disturbing ideas. Our job in life, our role in life is to make this world a happier & more productive place to live. It can be a really diffcult problem, but we all urge you to not add notoriety to this or any other "sick" sites. Try to ignore them. One other thing you could do, if you really wish to be a "superhero" is you could spend all your time hunting down these "sick sites" & reporting them to as many socially concious organisations as possible & then overwhelming pressure will come about to rid us of these "sick sites" ((((((((((((((((((((((Clinton)))))))))))))))))))))))) shaktiman Quadra 840av, prettymuchmaxedout8xcd drive,3 monitors 15" & 14" & 14" os 8.1 , 12 meg ram, 500 meg hard drive Performa400(asleepintheattick) |

The guy is a sick jerk . . . just like the producers of "jackass" seem to be from the movie trailers. That crap is real and kids have died imitating it and there's no way to get that crap off the air when the FCC has rules regarding taste and irresponsible behavior. So, even being a cat person myself, a virtual cruelty website seems just a little bit silly as a choice for windmill tilting to me, but good luck wrecking this jerk's airfoil anyway, Clinton! I agree with Trash here. Your responce doesn't really represent your veiw on the topic, but shows more of a personal attack towards Clinton. If you don't agree, state it and give your reasons as to why. If you didn't feel it was worth your while to read, then you could have easily hit the back button. There's no need or desire for hateful name-calling towards any members here for posting a topic they feel strongly about and choose to share with us in the "Lounge" for which it's for. Dunno, seems like it fits the lounge, what do some other mods think?quote:

I know what you mean . . . I feel exactly the same way, I don't know what's wrong with "enlightened" types who think free speech only applies to the people whose "broadminded" views agree with their own.Just how does reading a complaint about the bonsai kitten site affect you any more than the site itself affects the complainer? Your argument is inconsistent, you don't need to read the complaints and if you stumble upon them, it's the same as the complainers stumbling upon the b.k. site. This seems appropriate grist for a new topic thread, but in the context of this particular thread your criticism is too personal and the language is far to pejorative, IMHO personally, and IMO as a moderator on these boards. jt . OK, Last time that I checked, the description of the Lounge was, and I quotequote:
Talk about ANYTHING But keep it civil
I believe that this thread falls under the category of ANYTHING, and thus is relavant to the lounge. If you are going to argue that I have not kept this civil, I will agree with you, up to a point. As you may or may not notice, I have removed the offencive word of "bastard" out of my subject heading, and thus have kept it civil. I am not slamming anyone on these forums, just merely pointing out something that I think is disgusting, cruel, and mentally sick. Another point is that last time I have checked, you are not forced to read and reply to every single thread in these forums. This is not a totalatarian government, and thus you have your freedom of choice: The choice to say "this Clinton asshole has a radical point of view that does not match my own, Whoops, BACK BUTTON." I am not holding an M16 to your head, threatening to turn it into raw hamburger if you do not agree with my point of view, so DON'T. Just leave quietly and nobody will think worse of you. Please, if anyone else finds this thread stupid, or if they do not agree with it, ethier post some constructive criticism, or simply save yourself some effort and DON'T POST ANYTHING!!! :ducks and hides: hmm..... "free speech" seems to be thus as such:
1)MIT student creates ModdedKitty 2)Clinton posts on MLA that he doesn't like ModdedKitty 3)Alpaca2500 doesn't agree and says so 4)Cory5412 states that Alpaca2500 neednt be where he doesn't want to be, instead of telling others to packup and leave 5)JT (using his SuperFreeSpeechPowers) that he doesn't think that an attack on the creator of this thread is needed.... 6)It is determined that, in fact this IS a topic for the lounge... 7)Clinton mentions that he didn't mean to make this a flame attack on any MLA members.... 8)Cory5412 makes this little recap post quote: i dont think 68kmla is an appropriate forum for this kind of discussion, even in the 'lounge', i have been seeing similar complaints popping up all over the place, and now it's hit here too
Some people only visit the MLA, and this is where they post about EVERYTHING in their life... if you don't come here and pay attention to anything but 68k macs... that's fine but the people here, who might not be elsewhere are good people and willing to discuss other junk too...
