I'm looking for a flavor of UNIX to run on my Blackbird 520, but Debian, MkLinux, and all the other ports I've found need an FPU. Even A/UX is hassling me! SoftwareFPU won't cut it... Does anyone know of a UNIX that will run on a 680LC40?

You know, I really don't know of any, but if you can get your hands on a full 040 surface mount processor and are real good at soldering, you can make the swap and get it that way!

You could try terminal-emulation software for the unix "feel". Look up MachTen and Macminix on google.

Hmm. Last time I tried posting, the forums ate the reply.
Anyway... You are in luck. There is a distribution of NetBSD written for FPU-less Macs like your PowerBook (and my Performa 475, which is running it nicely). It also has trackpad support in X11. But any other software has to be compiled from source. http://edoneel.chaosnet.org/Downloads.html
