I found a way to get a very compact version of system 7.5.2 that fits on a standard 1.4M floppy. On my PB 190cs, I decided that I'd better run "Floppy Disk Maker" to ensure that I had a backup of the OS (its a liberated PB and I don't have the install disks or a CD-ROM for the machine). The unexpected outcome of this is that the application creates a "Disk Tools" disk with a ultrabare minimum version of 7.5.2 that fits on a single floppy with room left over for Disk First Aid and Drive Setup. I also made a copy of this minimized system for RAM disk use.

Funny thing is that even though the entire min system folder is 1.1 M (the System file is a mere 374k and the System Enabler is on 111k), the system still consumes over 3 M of RAM when I run it.

Couldn't you just "burn" the first 7.5.3 disk image onto a floppy?

Yes, I think that we might be talking about the same thing. The first disk of the Floppy Maker Install set was a bootable ultra-minimized 7.5 system that fits on a single 1.4 floppy. I would assume that the first disk for the 7.5.3 installer is a bootable disk?

BTW, I realized why that 1.1 M System Folder was consuming 3.1 M of RAM -- I was using a 2 M RAM disk and it was being counted in the System's memory allocation.
