Hey all,I'm looking at getting my little bro a PPC 540c Upgrade .. but I've got no idea really what the going rate is these days for such a beastie. The one I'm looking at is a 117mhz 603e. Anyway any and all comments are appreciated! :) Cheers, Andres. |

I've no idea what they go for but make sure it's under 100 USD because that's all it takes to buy a PowerBook 1400 which is a significantly faster machine.-------- LC 2, LC 3, Q605, Perf 638, Colour Classic (160 603e) 6100, 7200, PTP 225 (Quad 604), PM 9600, G4 Cube |

yeah... if you only really wanted a 117 MHz 603, you could look into the Powerbook 5300 series... beware though, some of these came with grayscale screens, and yet still some others are just flaky and unsafe machines anyway... a good 1400 should do you well... I think that the 1400s had higher screen resolutions anyway didn't they?Official 68k videographer |

hey guys, thanks for replying :) The thing is he already has a good old 040 540c that is going good, so I'm only looking at getting the PPC upgrade not the *whole* 'Book ;) Maybe I should just offer the guy a couple of pre-paid Pizza hut deliveries eh, i doubt it'd go down well though (the suggestion, nor the pizza) ;) cheers!

I realise you aren't looking for a new 'book. It was just to make you aware that if he was charging much more than 50 USD you'd be better putting the money towards a new machine.Did you profile change? I didn't know you were from NZ yesterday.. Anyway a used PB 540c will easily fetch 100 AUD on eBay so if you add that to 50 USD you are only a few dollars short of a 1400. Basically I wouldn't pay more than 30 USD. If we knew what they were selling it'd be easier to tell you if it was a good price -------- LC 2, LC 3, Q605, Perf 638, Colour Classic (160 603e) 6100, 7200, PTP 225 (Quad 604), PM 9600, G4 Cube |

Yeah, and on top of that, most came with CD ROM drives, and are G3 upgradable! -------------------------- Give your dreams a chance.™ - Apple in the mid '90s Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 7
