Well, my new 40-gigabyte 2.5-inch hard drive finally came yesterday, and I just got around to installing it in my PowerBook G4. It's a huge improvement over the stock 20-gig drive, both in terms of speed and capacity. So now, I'm wondering about how difficult it would be to install the 20-gig drive in my 'new' clamshell iBook. Have any of you attempted such a project? Any tips? Thanks! SpaceBoy <still reeling from the news of the Columbia disaster> PS I seem to recall an internet walkthrough for upgrading the iBook's drive- any links? I'm having a hard time finding it again...Official MLA Raconteur AppleBASIC FOREVER! I think you might find some links at xlr8yourmac.com certainly in the forums if not the FAQ.Reminds me of when I got my cube and swapped the 20 gig maxtor for a 40 gig Barracuda IV, the thing was because the old drive was Apple branded the people on eBay paid double what I paid for the 40 gigger for an older, slower, noiser smaller drive -------- LC 2, LC 3, Q605, Perf 638, Colour Classic (160 603e) 6100, 7200, PTP 225 (Quad 604), PM 9600, G4 Cube |

urgh. clamshells are a real pain to replace anything in them... hard to open, hard to replace things (so tightly packed) hard to put back together. on an allmost related topic, I don't know why people gripe so much about Q800/840 cases! they are not that bad! it's just getting the initial case off that's a bit of a problem. I agree with you on the 840AV case. Although has ANYONE ever tried to upgrade the RAM or VRAM in a Quadra 700?
