Quadra 660 A/V would be a good choice. Pizza-box case with 1 7" Nubus and 1 PDS slot, plus a 25MHz 040 w/ FPU and a 68MB RAM cap.

All those part are not standard on any Mac, except for the Mac TV (TV Tuner preinstalled, although no A/V jacks).

Basicly, what you have just described would be the Quadra 630, with the Apple TV/Video system installed. It will add a TV tuner card, Remote control (IR sensor on front of system), and RCA A/V jacks. I have one of these kits, and I can say they work decently.

Outer options would be the Performa 630 -640, and LC 630 (note: DOS Compatable option blocks TV tuner option). If you prefer to have a little more power, and I stress little, any of the Power Mac/Performa 5200, 5300, 5400, 5500, 6200, 6300, 6400, and 6500 series have the internal connectors to handle the A/V jacks, and I am pretty sure the TV tuner card as well.

[edit: forgot to mention the lack of an FPU on the Quadra/Performa 6xx models. This will cause a speed hit, so you are better off in some ways by getting a Quadra AV or Power Mac, and install the A/V jack option, and add a VCR for changing channels.]

hmm, more like for your wants...but anyways

Well, as for the lack of FPU on the LC and Performa 630, you can just remove the 68LC040 with a fullblown 68040...

The 630 series is the only option you have if you want both A/V and a TV tuner w/remote.

Bah, forget that small desktop case thing, and go all out for a Quadra 840AV, with its 40 MHz of full '040 power!

I just got refreshed out of another reply, is there any way to get a post in progress back?

anyway

ditto to what Z said about the 630 series and video/tv tuner rig, but try to find one with the second SIMM slot implemented on the mobo.

You NEED an internal IDE interface and a HUGE drive to play with video.
You'll WANT to keep the upgrade (?) path open to a PCI mobo with the L2 cache slot and a 40 mhz system bus.

The only reasonable alternative IMHO would be the late 5200 form factor job with all of the above and a 50 mhz mobo if the 15" screen is OK for your application.

we'll leave the spec for CPU on some of these mobos unmentioned P-)
