I just upgraded the drive in my old 8500 so i took the original 1.2 gig and put it in my 605. only problem now is HD setup on my 7.5.3 disc won't let me initialize it. it says it is unable to prepare the drive for initialization. any tips/ideas?

My guess is that the HD was initialized with a later version of HD SC Setup, or more likely, Drive Setup (which was the successor to HD SC Setup).

I would try initializing it with Drive Setup. Now, IIRC, Drive Setup may not run under OS versions before 8.

If this is the case, just go ahead and do a clean install of 7.5.3 on the 605--you don't need to reinitialize the HD in order to install a new OS on it.
