I needed an external hard drive to use on my TiBook to install YDL 2.3 and for backup, so I went on eBay and very quickly found and won this! It's a 30GB, 5,200 rpm firewire drive that's missing the firewire and the power cable. All for $31, shipping included!!! I already bought a firewire cable from another auction for $4 and now all I need to do is wait for it to arrive to figure out what kind of power cable it uses. Yo cine, nice score! I bought just the case from Zeehoo a little over a year ago, and it cost $90! A couple of pieces of info: First off, that's gotta be a 4,200 or 5,400rpm drive. There are no 5,200 rpm drives. Chances are it's 5,400, because AFAIK all 4,200rpm units are smaller, 2.5" laptop drives, and you've got a full sized 3.5" unit in there. Second, here's the info on the power adapter (at least the one that came with mine: It's a little like a laptop power adapter, in that the "brick" is in the middle of the cord, and therefore is not part of the plug. The AC plug is a "regular" two prong type because of this (good news for crowded power strips). This AC plug end is a separate cable that has a standard inverse two-prong plug that goes into the power brick section. The end that goes into the back of the drive lookes like a Mac serial or ADB cable. The connector has five pins though. This is a very common type of power adapter interface on computer equipment, but it's pretty uncommon at Radio Shack, and I have no idea what the proper/formal name for it is. Finally, the one that came with my drive is a StarKing Technology switching adapter, Model PA-215, .6Amp input (100-240VAC, 50 or 60Hz, interestingly), 5V -- 1.5A, and 12V -- 1.8A. Hope this helps. Whoa, thanks alot, Matt! That'll definitely help me find the cable, sounds like the audio cable that goes to my Altec Lansing subwoofer. Should be easy around here...Oh and yeah, it's 5,400 rpm, that was a typo! 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 My Site: http://cine.sytes.net My Hardware Page: http://cineware.sytes.net |
