Hi, I was referred to this most excellent forum by TiMacLover, kewl place!

I run a hotline server called retromac68k.dyndns.org, l/p retro/retro. and I started in Feb 2000 on a IIsi with 1 GB of ram and I think 16mb of ram. it soon grew as everybody wanted to upload their old floppy images to the server. Well, it grew to a Centris 650 with 2 x 4.5 gb at end 2000, and by Mid 2001, upgraded to a 5200 PPC with a 40gb IDE drive as SCSI was just too expensive for this hobby. 1 month ago, I upgraded the server to a 6400 and expanded the services to include:

- THePalace Chat Server
- Hotline Server
- Email server
- others.

My server only serves 68k stuff for macs (other than the newton, beos stuff and psion). it's mission is to foster closer linkage with other 68k users.

cheers!

last count on the server, it was 7k files and 12gb....the problem with keep retro files is that it is hard to say no to old files, sometimes same sw but different version numbers.

cheers!

thought bringins this up.

laxx - what's wrong with your server? It keeps lowering the DL speed to like 893 bytes/sec. It doesn't always happen - very random.

A hard drive would be RAM, though, wouldn't it? I mean, it's not what we normally call RAM, but it is random access memory, not sequential access memory. Kinda like how a Mac is really a PC.
