1 (and my very first) Quadra 605!

i got that yesterday in exchange for a few bits and pieces. I swapped out the 80 MB drive for a spare 500, I have a full 33 Mhz chip which goes in next and I'm going to take to 40 MHz. I also ripped apart an old SCSI case for the cables so I could hook up a CD drive. Hopefully I can find my spare PDS nic. It's about to be leavered out if its case, I have great plans for this Although the case flow is going to keep progress slower than I would have liked.

Then today I got a deal on an LC 2 and monitor for 1 AUD, that's about .5 USD, and he's going to deliver it! The only thing is it won't arrive until my g/f gets back. If it had arrived sooner I could have quickly ripped it apart and put the pieces in my computer parts box, then when i took them out I could easily make out that I had always had them.

If only it were this easy to get a new job

Well the guy dropped the LC 2 over this evening. However someone had already raided the LC 2, no RAM!! And the only 30 pin SIMM's I have I traded yesterday to get RAM for the 605!

Oh well the monitor is still handy. Anyone in Melbourne want a free LC 2?? 80 MB HD 256k VRAM no RAM?

D'oh I forgot about the 4MB on board.

To be honest though I don't think it's worth moving to Australia *just* for an LC II!

You have a much better source of stuff on eBay, although the things on eBay here are stupidly cheap compared to the UK

Beige G3 233 on ebay.co.uk 200UKP or 150USD 500'ish AUD
Beige G3 233 on ebay.com.au 45UKP or 35USD 120AUD (40%more gets you a 17inch monitor to go with it)

That auction ended at almost 40 USD!!! I can buy a complete Quadra 605 for 7 USD!!

Anyway I just replaced the chip in my 605 with a 33 MHz part and swapped the resistors, I wanted to go for 40 MHz but I need to find some more resistors. I'm sure the LC 2 could donate some but I'd feel bad *killing* an LC 2 just for 1 resitor!

What I would be interested to know is the resistor values actually matter or it's just a case of making a connection as on G4 processor cards.
