I send my apologies to the moderator as a moderator for any trouble I may cause, but it is difficult to apoligise to the moderator as a salesman for insulting Canadians in particular and non-Americans in general -- all based on one bad apple! II2II Intelligence officer in training. |

Some day, I guess I'll come over to U.S.A. and buy a Q605, still missing in my collection. I guess the airfreight cost for such a pie will exceed $120 if somebody are willing to ship one.LeifC +70 68k Macs rescued "Beige is beautiful" |

Actually, AirMail Parcel Post on that item would be about $60US -- still a lot, but a lot less than $120! Even better, Economy Surface mail is only $40 -- but that takes 4-6 weeks, and who the heck knows what kind of condition it'd arrive in! I didn't put that there to insult anyone! I put it there because I have found that for several reasons shipping to Canada and abroad is more trouble then it is worth for me! If you have a problem with the way I choose to do business then don't do business with me. I don't have a problem with that . But to call me arrogant and to insult me I feel is unfair when you don't know the background surrounding my choice. I would certainly not tell you how to handle your business! So don't tell me how to handle mine! General LeeMac M.A.C ( Mac Action Commando) Phantom OPS 68k's Liberated 0004 www.68kmla.com |

Perhaps the word trouble is relative, but you should not be running into any when shipping across the Canada-US border. The customs form simply asks you for a return address, a declaration of the contents, and whether it is a gift, product sample, or merchandise. This leads me to believe that your problem was with the buyer. In such cases I will maintain that bad mouthing non-Americans by a single example is arrogance. The problem was more likely with the shipping company than the buyer. You are of course 100% right that US-Canada shipping is normally trouble-free -- IF you use the US Postal Service as the shipping company (and if you affix the proper customs label). On the other hand, it's been well documented (by Charles Moore at AppleLinks and Low End Mac, for example), that when folks in the U.S. send stuff to Canada via UPS, the Canadian buyer is often forced to pay exorbitant fees before being able to take delivery of the package. Don't ask me what these fees are, if they're legal or necessary, or if UPS is dishonest, stupid, or merely the victim of some problem the US Postal Service doesn't have to deal with. All I know is, when shipping to Canada, ship via USPS! Matt No rank

That may explain why every parcel I receive is USPS. I always send parcels to the US via Canada Post too. The first time time I checked into shipping, they had much cheaper rates and were much more service oriented (UPS wanted me to drive halfway across town to drop off a parcel, since I was not a corporate client). If anyone is interested in what I have to sell please contact me via my email address above or the one in my profile. Otherwise the shipping to Canada topic needs to be taken to an other area. This is after all a "Buy, sell & trade" Forum and I would like to keep it to that. Thank you. II2II, Your view of my shipping choice is noted and will be considered in future FS posts.
