anyone know of any way to get display spanning under 10.2 on an iMac G4 15"?, is there any software hack I could do? I am going to check out resexcellence.com right now, but I thought someone may know of a quick fix.anyway, TIA CCC Lieutennant Commander (Pronounced Leftennant) 68k Macs Rescued: 2 Pluses, a 512KE, a Classic II, a Q650, a Q660AV, and a MacII Contraband rescued: Power Computing PowerBase 200, a PM 8600/300, and a PM8500/180 Apple //s rescued: Apple //e |

not possible... to do dual displays not mirroring, you need to have 2 GPUs, which the iMacg4's DON"T have......sorry Official 68k videographer |

that's not an entirely correct statement, for example the radeon 7000 and the 8500 (i think) are both dual headed cards. I found this link, but it looks like that the 17" might do it, but not the 15". http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/ibook_dual_display_mods.html _______________________ Sgt. I know that you can, because I have seen it done. Someone installed OS9 on another G4 and then put the hdd into the iMac, and it spanned, though with a really crappy resolution, partially the macos was not installed with the iMac in mind.anyway, I am going to see what I can do, more suggestions welcomed CCC Lieutennant Commander (Pronounced Leftennant) 68k Macs Rescued: 2 Pluses, a 512KE, a Classic II, a Q650, a Q660AV, and a MacII Contraband rescued: Power Computing PowerBase 200, a PM 8600/300, and a PM8500/180 Apple //s rescued: Apple //e |

The iMac 15" cannot do monitor spanning, but the iMac 17" can. The reason is that the 17" model's graphics card is dual-head capable, whereas the 15" model's is not. nope, unless my 2 (two) radeon 7000s are the wrong cards, they have only 1 (one) gpu chip. _______________________ Sgt. Thelip Heavy Weapons Specialist - 950 division Keeper of the MLA Tracker - mlatracker.dyndns.org |

To recap:You *don't* need a "dual-GPU" card to do spanning. You *do* need a card capable of doing monitor spanning in order to get two screens. The GPU in the iMac 15" is not capable of doing spanning. It has a 2MX which is not the same as the dual-head capable 2MX in some early G4 towers. The GPU in the iMac 17" is capable of doing spanning, via a firmware hack. ~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit Mayor of NuBus City v3.0
