Hello, I have this idea that might simplify somethings and help out the 68kmla members. What about having FAQ's for various subjects like "how do I hook up my iMac to LC 475?", "Can I run A/UX on my mac?", "What's the best OS for my mac?", "can I hook a pc up to my mac?" (I've asked this one myself!) "how do I zap my PRAM and rebuild my desktop file?". That sort of thing. Also in my case, I have a computer computers, not all 68k, not all apple. So what if we had some FAQ's on how to set up a pc for subservient role in a mac network and maybe some downloads of non-window OS's like openstep and OS/2. All this sort of stuff would be on the website or on a hotline server, all in one spot. Just an idea, what do you think? As per usual, it comes down to content creation. It's easy to say "we should do this, or that", but what it really takes is for someone to type it up and format it in a suitable fashion for the web - even better if it can be done in a standard way so that all the FAQ pages look the same, and even better if it is verified by a few people to make sure that the information is correct!I'm not knocking you for saying "we shouild do this and that", I'm just pointing out that it's a task that requires actual effort. ~Coxy and co have asked for content before, but so far not much has happened. Probably coz everyone is like me - lazy In any case it's more likely that any documents created will get posted on the creators personal website, rather than MLA. 68k ParaMedic |

The rest of your post was 100% correct, but I'd just like to point out that I (mostly) upload people's submissions ASAP. ~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit Mayor of NuBus City v3.0

Having created a couple of pages for the site, and working on at least three more (m68k/ix86 comparison chart, *nix compatability chart for 68k Macs, and a liberated page for Apple IIGS), I wouldn't say lazy, just more like "strapped for time". ------------------ MacMoose Benevolent Genius, 68k MLA Total 68K Macs liberated: 22 and counting ------------------

What I meant was that people are more likely to put it on their own site, rather than submitting it to MLA. I would like to create some stuff for MLA, but I'm lazy and strapped for time 68k ParaMedic |

well that's all good ideas, and I would do something like that... it just seems that it's all been done before :-\ I was at one time even going to take on another large project... I was going to take down the names, models and specs of all the MLA's computers and enter them into a database... but other than that... usually collecting the data isn't hard, in fact: this is almost ALL stuff we already know... (us hardcore MLAers) but .... the time and effort it takes to actually *put it down in HTML* even in Claris HomePage 3 like I use... it's just hard to find a good way to go about this... we could try though... I have my own server with practically unlimited space.. and ~Coxy said that he puts up submissions ASAP Official 68k videographer |
