Got lucky today on the sale-all-old-equipment day at my office.I got a - Centris 660AV 8/500 w. System 7.5.1, MPW, SuperCard and other stuff installed - AudioVision 14 display - Apple extended keyboard + mouse - Custom built laserdisc player All for 5 euro. Got a P90 for 50 cents, with 16MB ram installed which fitted into the Centris.. :D And an AppleVision 1710 which will not power on; for free. I'm not good with CRTs, so don't know if that's repareable. -- I'll never get out of this world alive... Liberated 15 68k Macs! |

Put some more RAM in your P90 and run OpenStep on it.Official 68kMLA Music and NeXT Expert Macs Liberated: SE (2), LC, IIsi, PB 145b, Quadra 700 (2), LC 575, 6100 (2), PB 5300, PowerMac 5400/200, Performa 6400/180 PCs liberated from Windoze: 3 |

Make sure the ADB pass-thru cable on the AV 1710 is connected...mine wouldn't power on without it!666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 My Site: http://cine.sytes.net My Hardware Page: http://cineware.sytes.net |

Congratulations on the conquest. Your tale highlights how well 68k's hold their value. You got an older 33 MHz LC040 system for 15 cents/MHz and a newer 90 MHz rePentium for 0.6 cents/MHz. Of course, I think that the P90 was really just a massive box to hold your new Mac's 16 MB memory SIMM. Have fun with Supercard. SuperCard and HyperCard are excellent tools for hacking together fun little applications (and fun big applications, too). Oldmacman: the P90 was emtpy, except for the ram... But I can get hold of OpenStep, and I will put that on the P200/64MB/2,5GB I bought for 5 euro at the same auction! Or FreeBSD, Debian, NetBSD... Its the try-out machine.Cine: thanks for the tip, I didn't connect the ADB when I tested it first. Tonight I tried it, but it wouldn't power on connected to the Centris. I'm too tired now yo go through all the hassle, but will try it on the 7500. G4from128: indeed, the P90 was a simm-container. It's gonna go to the local thriftshop with something like 8 mb and a little HD, don;t know what else to do with it. I'll look some more into SuperCard, never worked with it... -- I'll never get out of this world alive... Liberated 15 68k Macs! |

OpenStep is better than Linux or BSD, IMHO. It's much easier to use, the interface makes sense, the dev tools are better, and it doesn't use X.If you can't find OpenStep, it's on the 68kMLA Hotline server. One thing i've also noticed is that a 1710 will not power on unless the video cable is connected to a Mac.-------------------------- Give your dreams a chance.™ - Apple in the mid '90s Warrior maclover5 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Number of 68ks Liberated: 6
