Ut Oh! Its double-plus ungood when the magic smoke escapes. If you are very adventurous and not afraid of death, you might be able to open it up and fix it. I've opened up more than enough CRT's, so that doesn't bother me, the smoke does... I don't want a fire or nutten like that. I just went out and got a nice ViewSonic 17" for now, i couldn't stand the multi scan 15 any longer. Bad things happen in 3's: in the last week 3 things happened...1. The vacuum cleaner died 2. My AppleVision 1710 died 3. and just today, our slow cooker shorted out, smoked the house up, and very well could have burnt the house down, if my mom hadn't grabbed it and thrown it out the door.. The entire house still reeks of burnt plastic. Btw, I found what went poof in the monitor, it was a rectifier diode, and It blackened the pcb 2 inches around it. I stole an identical one from a VCR PSU, soldered it in, and it turned on! Alas, the image on the screen is a 2" wide vertical bar, where I can see a very scrunched up image. I think the surge created by the exploding diode fried something.

My Multiscan 15 can do 1024x768 too, but it's a bit small Artillery Commander/Engineer, 68kMLA Liberated: LCII , III+, IIci, Q700, 800, and 840av, P550, 410 Contraband: Beige G3/300 MT o/c 400mhz, (2) 6100's Keeper of the 68kmla Hotline mirror server: 68k.dyndns.org
