Anybody know of a bit of software that can turn a sequence of screen shots into a quicktime movie? I can see one of two possibilities. Either it would be a controllable OS extension that automatically grabs the next frame of the movie every time there is a low-level redraw command or a hotkey is pressed. Alternatively, it might be an application that converts a folder full of screen shots (Picture 1, Picture 2, Picture 3,.....) into a movie.I'd prefer 68k code if possible, but a PPC version would be better than nothing. I suppose I could just do a loop-back on my 8500 -- connect the video IN to the video OUT and use Video Recorder to create a movie of the screen. Or, use a VCR to tape the screen output and then play back the tape for video capture. But going through video just feels so analog and icky to me. Check out the software that was bundled with the Apple Video System cards for the 630, IIRC it would probably work to do that.jt

You could just use QuickTime. Drop all your screen shots into a folder then select 'open image sequence' from the file menu in QT. If you have ten shots and you enter 24 frames per second in the dialog box, you will get a movie that is 10 seconds long and each screenshot showing for one second. As for automating it....AppleScript perhaps? 68k ParaMedic |

jt, FlashThank you both very very much for the leads. I'll have to scrounge around on Hotline for appropriate copies of the Video System software for the 630 and Quicktime. My old Quicktime Player 4.1 on my G4, doesn't seem to have the "open image sequence" under "file" as a command, and I haven't checked the Quicktime versions on my 68k's or older powermacs. I'll also look more into the magic of AppleScript. I do doubt that the ancient application (Trapeze from 1988) that is creating the images that I want to animate is scriptable, but maybe applescript can help in other ways. Thanks for the great ideas, G4From128k by Day: Mild-Mannered Engineer and Trapeze(tm) Artist by Night: Colonel of Truth, Justice, and the Macintosh Way Reserve Officer in 68kMLA Cantankerous Coot Contingent & User of the Hockey Puck Mouse of Radial Symmetry |

Now that I think about it GraphicConverter will make a gif animation from copy/pastes and you could probably convert it to quicktime form there. GC is amazing.jt

GC, Of course! Although I was a total Fatbits fiend with MacPaint back my 128k days, I have become graphically clueless for the past decade. I've heard rumors of something called 24-bit color?!?!? I'm sure I've got a copy of GC on a MacAddict CD-ROM somewhere. I guess I'll have to do some digging. Thanx jt! hey, I am a kid, and the first machine I used back in 1990 was a mac plus, my school had a whole lab fulla 'em, with SEs for servers. I thought the little toastermacs were the greatest thing since god put corn in a can, and I have been stuck using monitors that display a maximum resolution of 800x600 for most of my life, and my current laptop only does 640x480! I am oogling lapzilla as the beautiful mac it is with a shipload of screen real estate.jt is so old, he thinks that all of us under 25 are pampered by high resolutions NEWS FLASH, you weirdo Albanian hehehe CCC Lieutennant Commander (Pronounced Leftennant) 68k Macs Rescued: 2 Pluses, a 512KE, a Classic II, a Q650, a Q660AV, and a MacII Contraband rescued: Power Computing PowerBase 200, a PM 8600/300, and a PM8500/180 Apple //s rescued: Apple //e |

There's an app called Gif?Gif?Gif which can record a .gif "movie" of a portion of the screen, and it's faster than Snapz Pro, which can record a .mov of the screen.~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit Mayor of NuBus City v3.0
