Safari is sweet

I've been waiting for this for a loooong time. Unfortunately I still need IE for one of my 3 banking sites, but safari handles the others fine. I'm getting my g/f to start using it now too but some of the forums she visits appear too wide. Anyway it's a beta so this is to be expected and things can only get better.

Speaking of which it would be great if the google search box changes so that it searchs by book mark title or address when you are looking at your book marks. I found myself trying to searh my bookmarks the other day without realising it!

Of the metal theme. Loads of people think it sucks, I think it's great it makes the pages stand out from all the other windows on screen. I also think it's great having the metal theme for certain apps. It makes them appear more like an appliance (couldn't have spelt that without the auto spell checking!) For things like iTunes a browser iSync it's great. Simple Apps with one purpose. I wish they'd turn their attention to Image capture next, it would be great if it worked with scanners properly.

One thing I was just wondering is if the bug report will disappear when it hits a final version. Will they replace it with a throbber like ie et al? Is it even necessary? A spinning apple would be cool but I guess it just clutters things up.

Snap back and auto killing of pop-ups is cool too. I'm not fussed about tabbed browsing and auto complete for forms will come in time I'm sure.

The whole thing is just great!

it unexpectidly quits on my beige machine on most pages i try to visit (but not google, my homepage) and works flawlessy on my 8500, of course both are upgraded and probably as far from supported as can be, but go figure. I've been watching the apple support disscussion forums intently for a fix to this problem which is similar to others, but nobody has found a fix yet.

until it gets tabbed browsing, i will be sticking with chimera.

true; i feel like tabbed browsing is the only thing missing from safari... and i like brushed stainless steel software too

other things i like about it are the progress bar behind the address and the INCREDIBLY fast load time...

What the heck is tabbed browsing?? Oh ya, that pop-up killer is very cool. A lot of the sites that I go to have pop-ups and I love not having to wait for them to load and then close the window. Safari is .

check out chimera at versiontracker. It's a great browser.

Instead of multiple windows of webpages, there are tabs at the top of a single window that switches between the multiple pages. It's extrememly convient for smaller displays and/or many running apps.

If you like that idea and use AIM often, check out adium. I'm sure i'll get tarred and feathered, but i think it's the greatest AIM client ever and kills everything else, including ichat. It might be my ADD shinning thru, but ichat makes my head spin.

I don't see what use tabbed browsing is in OS X. If you have several windows open at once, you can just minimize them into the dock. It's easy to see which webpage is which, because they all have little pictures of what's in the window.

I'm not a fan of tabbed browsing myself, either.
Besides, what use would a clone of Chimera be?

nah. I still think that Safari is more like mozilla than anything else.

hmm... my initial impression is that it's Chimera with more features and brushed stainless steel, and without tabs.
