ok, i was struck with an idea tonight. I setup a second machine with osx the other day and it's directly next to my other machine running osx. I had 2 displays before and really like it, but i also like having 2 machines. So i had this thought about what if i could span to the other machine to drag files and control and such. I thought it out and a friend of mine talked it over. It would actually quite simple. I would need two different apps:

A vnc server/client (which many exist)

and a virtual desktop app, but not just any app. To get my point across, i'll explain it this way, but if i were to program it, things may not work this way exactly. The system would think there was another display that i could move the mouse to, which would have the vnc client running full screen. So in a nut shell, my displays are side by side, i take a file from the left display and drag it to my right display, which would be the other mac running a vnc server. This would work visa versa. The problem with the existing virtual desktop apps is that i can't just span to "nothing-ness", the screen changes to the new desktop.

So does anybody have any clue of how i could begin this? I sure don't. I don't have any programming experience besides basic in highschool, but i want to learn. If i could use realbasic, or something easy to use, that would rock.

i heard that osx includes some virtual desktop stuff somewhere, but i don't know that for a fact.

i'm exhausted and so this might sound really messed up in the morning but until then, i'll be thinking it over and i would really appreciate some ideas. thanks and thelip out.

I do not know the extent of apple's remote desktop app. I also know it doesn't come free (Or at least I'm *pretty* sure it is servers only pkged with...) but it *may* be able to do that.

Other than that, I have not found a way to do this. The closest I have done is have a private FTP server on each and do files that way...
Which really is missing the point hehe.
