I picked up the following the other day:

a PRISTINE Quadra 650 8/500/tray-loading CD
-not *ONE* spec of dirt/dust/grime inside - it looks like it just rolled off the assembly line

LC 520 - 4/80
- this'll be used in conjunction with parts from my 560 to create a working mega machine

SE/30 - 2/40
my second SE/30! this has a failing power supply, though, so time to start gutting SEs! hmm...now to get a Torx 'driver

Talking about dust.

Some years ago, I bought a Centris 650 wich had a thick layer of fat black dust inside. It was used in a foundry for more than 18000 hours, and it's still working, but with a replaced battery.

My first 650 was in a deplorable state when I recieved it. The motherboard had a thick layer of dust and i was surprised the power supply even worked considering all the grime in it!

Yeah, I feel your pain. When I got my 7600 (eBay) it was loaded with dust. I couldn't bear to even use the thing until I vaccuumed out every little crevice, even had to disassemble the PSU to get it out of there. It was the sticky kind of really fine dust, too. You know - the kind you have to "scrub" off with a horse hair brush. I think it was in a machine shop or an old dusty office or something. At first I was angry because I thought I got ripped off by the seller, but under all that dust, lo and behold, was a 233MHz card from a 9600! As well as a 512k cache module and 1 or 2 Mb of VRAM!! The seller probably thought he got a good deal out of it, but if he'd just taken a look under all that dust. He actually ended up ripping off himseself.

So, keep the faith and keep dusting, because you never know what you're going to find!
