I'm trying to set up a simple (just 2 computers, no hub) network between my Quadra (running 7.5.3) and my ibook (running 9.2.1). I was able to figure out how to access the Quadra from the ibook, but not the other way around. It just doesn't show up on the chooser. Can anyone give me instructions on how to set this up? make sure file sharing is enabled on BOTH macs, not just on the Quadra.FireWire is fast General, 4 star Forum moderator 68k Macintosh Liberation Army |

You could also check the "Sharing" menu item for the Ibooks hard drive and see if "Share this item and its contents" is checked. I don't remember if computers will still show up in the Chooser if none of the disks on them are being shared or not.

i do believe enabling file sharing will automatically make the drive sharable (without having to go through the get-info box)FireWire is fast General, 4 star Forum moderator 68k Macintosh Liberation Army Edited by - FireWire is fast on 09 Jan 2002 10:39:34 |

No, you have to do a get info on the drive and select (under sharing) Share this drive and its contents.------------- Spring has sprung, fall has fell, winters here and it's colder then usual. Brigadier MacScuzzy 68K Macintosh Liberation Army Total 68K Macs liberated:5 |

1) make sure file sharing is on 2) make sure the hard drive is shared 3) what versions of system software are you useing, and what versions of AppleTalk? You can find the AppleTalk version in the AppleTalk control Panel.~Marchie ~Chaplain Marchie 68k Macintosh Liberation Army ~~"We are all Mad here."~~ |

Don't celebrate just yet......I have another problem. I switched from Apple Built-In ethernet to Localtalk (to connect to my Duo, which *still* isn't up yet), and now I can't swich back to talk to my ibook. It gives me an error, and goes back to Localtalk. Any solutions?Wonko The Sane Engineer-in-training 3 Macs Liberated "You can't possibly be a scientist if you mind people thinking that you're a fool."- Wonko The Sane |

Have you tried rebooting or turning appletalk off and then back on when you boot if that doesn't work? *Arrg...seems a little mild.....* jt

Make sure the inbuilt ethernet extensions are installed? I have the same problem on my 5400, but I think it's hardware...~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit 68k Macintosh Liberation Army (now with forums!) 00013 Macs liberated. |
