Nine times out of ten the last few days, I have not been able to log onto the Forum. Get this message:

quote:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'

Cannot open database ''. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.

/68kmla/inc_top.asp, line 75

Tried with two different browsers (Netscape 4.78 and Opera 5)--same result, so I don't think it's on my end.

I get that error periodically. Very very bothersome. I think we should add a self-hosted forum element to the whole .68k thing (if it hasn't already been suggested...I haven't kept up with the discussion)

You should post that on the forums:

That link doesn't work--what's it to?

If the (misnamed) 'LiteratureClassics' server is the problem, maybe it's time to look for another host for the forum. There are probably other commercial operations in the Mac world that have extra server capacity.

If money is the problem (when is it not?), how about setting up a not-for-profit 68KMLA Foundation, and going after grants from Mac-related companies--maybe even Apple?

BTW, ~Coxy, there are a number of firms that specialize in used Macs and used-Mac parts, some well-known (like MacResQ), others tiny eBay-tailers. How about hitting them up for some advertising and/or server space?

Just brainstormin'.

I think it is time for us to look for alternative hosts. Also maybe we could setup a donation system, so if people donate to the hosting fund we won't need ads!!

I'd say its the ads. If you look down the bottom of the screen, you'll see a MS scripting error where an ad normally is.

Welcome back! was a rough few days, I was worried mla was felled by a fatal M$ blow.

Maybe EzBoard could be useful as a new forum site?
