here's the story:
my 630 would only boot sometimes, and then it would be unstable. so, i decided that since i don't use my Quadra 700 very much that i would switch the procs and see if that helped things.. i'd also have a full 040 in the 630 and an LC040 in the 700. well, the 630 works fine now, but the 700 will boot and then.. it just stops at a screen with a blank menu bar with a grey background. the mouse freezes and everything.. it does the same thing with the HD unplugged and when i boot it from a floppy. this is sort of the same thing it would do in the 630, only it would stop at the "welcome to mac os" screen. could this just be a fried proc, or will the 700 not work with LC040's?
i've also tried a new battery.

Humm i've heard of this problem before, i think LC040s don't work with Q700s.

If you're going to keep the full 040 in the Q630, you'll probably want to install a heat sink or a fan on it. You've effectively overclocked it from 25 MHz to 33 MHz in the switch.
