I've got a radius 19" TPD that seems to have a problem with light objects on black backgrounds. I found that when using After Dark or any other program that displays light colored objects on a black background there was a tremendous amount of ghosting. I think this is caused by the 100 Hz refresh rate it's being run at but if so I don't know how to fix it. Any help?------------------------- DJ Corps "Bass is Good" 68k Liberations: 3 (PB 140, Centris 610, Classic) A-II Liberations: 1 (IIgs) In Progress: ?? (too many too count) |

Is this ghosting trailing animated objects (eg. After Dark)? If so, the monitor was not designed for animation: the phosphors probably last longer than normal in order to reduce flicker, thus eyestrain. It is doubtful that you can "fix" this.II2II Intelligence officer in training. |

The ghosting is trailing animated objects, however, the ghost of the object is still visible almost a second later. The monitor, being a Two-Page Display, obviously was not designed for animation, but the persistence is to the point where it's hard to believe they designed it that way.------------------------- DJ Corps "Bass is Good" 68k Liberations: 3 (PB 140, Centris 610, Classic) A-II Liberations: 1 (IIgs) In Progress: ?? I pulled my TPD out and was pleased to find it was working properly (it wasn't when I put it away). Unfortunately, I don't have anything which displays white on black to test it against. But ghosting is normal. I have run into it on my iMac (xscreensaver displays bright objects on a black background). Perhaps it is more noticable on the TPD because you are watching animation as bright on on solid black seems rare these days. I still think the phosphors is a problem. If the refresh rate is low, they would need phosphors that fade more slowly to avoid flicker. Old NTSC monitors (eg. Apple IIgs) were like this. II2II Intelligence officer in training. |
