I recently aquired yet another PB520c which I am turning into a router for a friend of mine. He has an ADSL connection, which means I need PPPoE to connect the Mac. The 520 is running System 7.6 and I've installed TCP/IP and OT/PPP, however I can't find any way to connect via PPPoE. Am I missing an extension or something? Any help appreciated.cheers Flash! 68k ParaMedic |

Yeah, before I got my harware router, we had MacPoET and that had an extension to it. I remember having an extensions conflict the one time, and to this day I do not know if it was the macpoet init extension, or a quicktime firewire DV extension...so be wary.~The Penguin **| Want free 68kmla email? Thanks for that, I've got it now I installed it, but I still don't see any PPPoE anywhere I'll have to go to my friends house to try and connect using the application (I don't have ADSL here) so we'll see what happens..... If anyone else has any idea's about how I would be able to select PPPoE in the TCP/IP control panel then I'm all ears. cheers Flash! 68k ParaMedic |

I think my Mac is allergic to PPPoE I ran the installer and it has added "MTS High Speed" but no PPPoE to be seen in either the 'Connect via' or 'Configure' drop down menus ....runs off and re-installs OT/PPP and TCP/IP......scratches head.... still not working...... 68k ParaMedic |

aaaaaaaargh! This is very frustrating! I re-installed OT/PPP yet again (coz it was v1.0, now it v1.1.2) and then I re-installed MTS. But still no PPPoE showing in the TCP/IP control panel - there's only Connect via: manually, BootP, DHCP and RARP.I've downloaded various versions of MacPoet, but the installer only wants to run on a PPC. Any idea's? Flash! 68k ParaMedic |

I've just put a space in front of MTS...rebooting....checking TCP/IP...nope, that didn't work either The PB520 is running System 7.6.1 Interestingly enough, I've tried both MTS and MacPoet on my PB500 PPC and I can't get PPoE to work on that either. I am sure when I finally figure out what I'm doing wrong I'm going to kick myself for being so stupid Of course, when I do get PPPoE working, I'm probably going to find it hard to set up the PB as a router with only ethernet port 68k ParaMedic |

If you're connecting to the net via modem, just use the ethernet port hooked up to the uplink on a switch and have everything connect thru that... ________________ foetoid, that's (fee-toy-duh) http://www.foetoid.doesntexist.com |
