I am hoping to get an answer so that I may be able to save a Mac lab at one of the schools I support...

I have a G3 with OS 8.x sharing files to 16 LC575/580s. The problem is that only 11 of the clients can connect and 12 tells me that the server won't allow anymore connections. This is done using MACIP over CAT 5. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

appletalk that is just installed on the computer only allows 10 hosts. Get appleshare IP.

Having only a crossover cable... I havent experienced problems like this in the past although... I do believe that there *is* a way to "hack" more user connection liscences into windows NT based servers... something that you don't need even to do for a beta version... so you could take the G3 for yourself and put a lowly pentium MMx class machine running NT5.0 server beta witha time limit crack... that's what I do anyway...

or AppleShare IP

either way works

the AS IP way is prettier it's more fun to make M$ mad by doing the NTbeta way though
