Hi, I'm the new member. I've liberated no macs, BUT, I did half-convert a PC user to the Mac side. I introduced him to a Performa 400 with LC III mobo, and he was hooked. His dad clock chipped the board up to LC III+ speeds, but that wasn't enough. He wanted a PowerMac. So, I bought an 8100 mac and sold him my previous 6100 mac. But the 8100 was showing age, I needed 604e, so I bought a 7300/180, and gave him the 8100 in exchange for the 6100 and $20.

He bought a Quadra 605 thinking it was a 6100, and he gave it to me. He also gave me a half-dead Apple IIe ge got at garage sale for $5. The Quadra will soon be a server for my new chat software, Chatline (which runs fine on a Mac Plus, BTW).

BTW, you need an new host for your forum. Your current one is running a WINBLOWS server.

Not only isn't it hosted by a windows box, but it is very unreliable - at times we get HTTP 500 server errors which sometimes go away after refreshing. (at the compaq boxes we have a school , i can press reload for 10 minutes and it still wouldn't work

oh well...

Well, I have a nice Linux server that could host the forum, although if you get gigs and gigs of traffic I won't be able to.

Hmm, the thing about this server, though, is that at least it's up, and it's fairly fast (but the forum software isn't - go figure), while someone's personal computer isn't as reliable.

Uhh, this is a professional server located in Arizona. NOT a home computer! It runs on OC-3 lines. I've never had downtime or speed problems.

Busy working on my software programs (and ALL of them run on 68k!).

http://www.silvernetwork.net

All of the released software is 68k, but I mainly do that because of code size. REALbasic generates small 68k apps, but humongous PPC apps.

Really, it makes atrocious PPC apps. 1.5MB for PPC and 400k for 68k.

But yeah, I really have a fondness for 68k. I don't plan to make ANY of my apps Carbon or PPC only [but I have a carbon version of one of my apps]. You can feel safe at SilverNetworks!

Apple is really killing even the low end PPCs now. With their rapid and nasty move to X, low end PPC users are really feeling left out. I can't do my daily work on a 68k, but I do it on a 7300. And I'm Feeling The Pain.
